Garden and landscape construction

A good garden design only takes on real value once it has been carefully and accurately translated into the space. Garden construction is therefore not just about planting. It includes site preparation, landscaping and groundwork, links to building works, and work with soil, water, paths, lawn and future maintenance.

At Landeco, we provide complete construction of garden architecture projects. Depending on the nature of the project, we also work with building and plumbing contractors, for example when installing irrigation systems, building swimming ponds, carrying out groundwork and other construction work.

From design to finished garden

Construction is always preceded by a consultation. We need to understand how the space should function, who will use it, how demanding the maintenance should be and what the technical possibilities of the site are. For a private garden, we consider everyday use, seating areas, views, shade, privacy and the connection to the house. For public green spaces or company premises, there are additional requirements for durability, safety, operational logic and long-term care.

Based on the brief, we prepare a work schedule and, if required, an itemised budget. It is this preparation that helps keep construction under control and prevents improvisation that could make the result unnecessarily expensive or complicated. Preparation includes a detailed consultation, a work schedule and, if required, an itemised budget.

What we provide as part of construction

Landscaping and site preparation

A quality garden stands on well-prepared ground. We handle ground modelling, preparation of sub-base layers, soil improvement, drainage and technical connections. With new builds, we often help transform a building plot into a space where greenery has the right conditions to take root and grow in the long term.

Planting trees, shrubs and plants

Planting is not just the aesthetic part of construction. Trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses and herbs must suit the light conditions, the soil, the water regime and the character of the garden. Well-established planting can create privacy, shade, a natural rhythm through the year and a pleasant habitat for small wildlife in the garden.

During construction, we pay attention to the right planting technique, quality growing medium, tree anchoring, watering and establishing the planting so that the plants take well.

Lawns, meadows and recreational areas

The lawn is often the most heavily used part of a garden. Depending on how it will be used, we design and establish traditional amenity lawns, representative grassed areas or more natural meadows that need less regular maintenance. A family garden needs a different approach from a park, company grounds or an area open to the public.

Irrigation, ponds and water features

Water in the garden requires a sound technical solution. We provide connections to irrigation systems and, depending on the type of project, also the construction of swimming ponds or other water features. During construction, we also provide connections to irrigation systems, swimming ponds and other water features in cooperation with trusted specialist trades.

Paths, hoggin surfaces and hard landscaping

Construction may also include hoggin paths, paved areas, steps, retaining elements, edging, terraces or other garden structures. These elements must not only match the garden visually, but above all be properly founded and technically well executed.

A hoggin path is particularly suitable where a surface should look natural and unobtrusive and blend well into a garden or park setting. For every path and paved area, we address drainage, load-bearing capacity, edges and the connection to the surrounding planting.

How we work together

At the start, we clarify the scope of the project. Sometimes we follow on from a finished design, at other times we help refine the plan before work begins. We then prepare the construction process, the coordination of the individual trades and the budget.

During construction, we make sure the individual steps follow on from each other: earthworks, utilities, hard landscaping, soil preparation, planting, lawn establishment and finishing touches. Communication with the client is also important. A garden takes shape gradually, and it is natural that some details are only resolved on site.

Construction of private gardens and public green spaces

We work on gardens of family houses, company premises, park landscaping and public green spaces. Our aim is to create harmonious and functional spaces — from family gardens to park greenery.

Each type of space needs a different approach. A private garden should be pleasant for everyday life. A park must withstand long-term use. Company premises should be representative, but at the same time must not be unnecessarily demanding to maintain. That is why, during construction, we think not only about how the garden will look when finished, but also about how it will function in several years’ time.

Why work with a professional team

Garden construction combines horticultural, technical and organisational work. It is not enough to choose pretty flowers, trees or lawn. What matters is the right sequence of work, proper establishment of planting, the connection to irrigation, soil quality, drainage and knowing how the garden will develop.

Professionally managed construction helps prevent mistakes that are difficult to put right later: a poorly established lawn, unsuitable plant choices, a lack of space for trees to grow, paths that do not work or maintenance that is too demanding.

Follow-up care after completion

Work on the garden does not end with the completion of construction. New planting needs proper watering, checks that the plants have taken, pruning, topping up mulch and gradual establishment. For lawns, the first mowing, feeding and setting up regular care are important.

That is why it makes sense to plan construction together with subsequent maintenance. Construction can naturally be followed by long-term care of the garden, company premises or public space.
